                                      SHEN

"Shen" is usually translated depending on the context as spirit, god, immortal, divine, supernatural or higher mind, it is one of the three main forces of movement and transformation on which human life depends, it is also known as "universal force" (the energy of the sky, of the stars). The SHEN It can be both original and acquired, it is an energy that resides in the upper tan tien: the energy center located between the two eyebrows, in the pituitary gland area of ​​the brain. This center controls the basic energy of the mind, necessary. for both clear thought and consciousness. Shen is the light of lucidity, of consciousness, that shines through our eyes when we are awake. When this area is opened and energized, we experience a strong intuition and sensation. of real purpose; and when it is closed or weak, our attention is dispersed and we feel distracted or indecisive.

Shen can be increased intentionally. One of the best ways to do this is by conserving our basic life force, and supporting the transformation of this force into a more subtle energy, such as that of consciousness. This work depends largely on our ability to stay in touch, to perceive the lower tan tien area, and to learn to keep this area open and active through awareness and proper breathing. Deep abdominal breathing not only helps us move our life force to higher centers into which it can be transformed, but it also facilitates mental calm and calming of the brain.

When the Chi reaches a certain level of intensity within us and we are able to feel it through a calm and permanent consciousness, the transformation of more of this energy naturally occurs into the energy of Shen, which is much purer. This higher level of Shen not only promotes healing and well-being, but also forms the basis of psychospiritual growth. In short, it should be noted that your Shen and your brain cannot be separated. Shen is the spiritual part of your Being, generated and controlled by your mind. The mind generates the will that keeps the Shen firm.

                                      EXERCISE

                               OPEN THE BRAIN

Sit or stand in your usual posture, allowing your mind to calm and your awareness to take in as much of your body and its functions as possible. After ten or fifteen minutes, focus your attention on the area immediately below the navel and feel the ball of energy expand and contract as you inhale and exhale. Once you notice that you are in contact with this area, let your attention also include the upper tan tien, located between the eyebrows. Feel your eyes relax in the back. Now notice that the entire area around you relaxes as well. It is a sensation similar to something hard that softens, or ice that melts to become water. While this process is taking place, pay attention to any thoughts or feelings you may have. Do not concern yourself in any way with these experiences. Let them take place and continue to perceive.
